As a Senior Systems Engineer at Target, you will be a key technical subject‑matter expert ensuring high equipment availability and optimizing system performance. You will use preventive and predictive maintenance processes, rapidly troubleshoot equipment breakdowns, and quickly restore equipment to service to support successful operation of the supply chain facility. You will work with other Target engineers and operational partners to optimize the performance and flow of material‑handling equipment, and lead building automation, continuous improvement and new installation initiatives.

You will serve as an escalated support resource during downtime events, ensuring proper processes and training procedures are implemented as part of root‑cause analysis, and proactively monitor overall health of the building’s material‑handling equipment.

You will be an expert who understands material flow optimization, system controls logic and will facilitate and train effective troubleshooting techniques. You will monitor and maintain the building’s systems, staying knowledgeable about all electrical, mechanical and control system communication aspects of Material Handling Equipment (MHE) on site, including conveyor systems, sortation, robotics and Automated Storage and Retrieval Systems (AS/RS). You will use diagnostic software and tools to collect and analyze data to identify trends and recommend improvements to building automation.

You will conduct technical interviews for internal and external technician candidates, evaluate technical skills and abilities, and train and coach internal technicians. You will support training plan development and progress follow‑up. It is expected that you maintain thorough knowledge and facilitate site training on appropriate safety procedures and use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while maintaining a safe work environment by eliminating potential equipment safety hazards.

• Two‑ or four‑year degree in Electrical or Controls Engineering or an equivalent degree/experience
• Available to work all days and shifts (24/7 operation, including holidays)
• Industrial electrical hands‑on experience and troubleshooting, including 480 V 3‑phase, 110 VAC and 24 VDC systems
• Experience with installing and maintaining a variety of software and hardware
• Strong organization and problem‑solving skills with a drive for results and the ability to handle multiple tasks and teams
