The Board of Regents, State of Iowa is seeking a full‑time Senior Auditor (Professional & Scientific) for the Office of Internal Audit. The auditor will work with complex accounting and financial data across various departments to ensure accuracy and compliance with university and government guidelines and regulations. The role involves researching identified issues, making recommendations to improve policies or procedures, planning and conducting wide‑varied internal audits, evaluating operational and business processes, identifying process risk, applying internal audit standards, conducting follow‑up reviews, and providing direction and training to staff auditors.
This position reports to the Board’s Chief Audit Executive and is located at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. A hybrid work model is available.
Required Qualifications- A bachelor's degree in business, accounting, information technology, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of three years of applicable experience, preferably audit experience.
- Certification in a related field (CPA, CIA, CMA, CISA).
- Advanced knowledge of audit procedures, ability to assess exposure to various risks and recommend controls.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.).
- Strong analytical skills and critical assessment of business policies, procedures, and practices.
- Experience with data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes.
- Ability to establish and execute projects to meet deadlines.
- Excellent professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience in information technology, financial, construction, compliance, or operational auditing.
- Advanced proficiency in applying organizational acumen to maintain focus on key success factors.
- Experience in training new staff.
- Knowledge of Workday functionality and controls.
Minimum $70,000, commensurate with experience.
