ISU Staff Auditor - Iowa Board of Regents

The Iowa Board of Regents is seeking a full-time (100%) Staff Auditor in the Office of Internal Audit. The auditor will be based at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, and is eligible for a hybrid work model. The role reports to the Board’s Chief Audit Executive. Responsibilities include planning and conducting a wide variety of internal audits by evaluating operational and business processes for appropriate internal controls and compliance with policies and regulations;

identifying areas of process risk and recommending improvements; and conducting follow‑up reviews to ensure corrective actions are taken.

• Plan and conduct internal audits of operational and business processes.
• Evaluate internal controls and compliance with policies and regulations.
• Identify process risks and recommend specific steps for improvement.
• Conduct follow‑up reviews to ensure management takes appropriate corrective actions.

• A bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or information technology (or equivalent combination).
• One to three years of relevant experience.
• Ability to critically assess business policies, procedures, and practices.
• Proficiency in professional verbal and written communication.
• Experience with data gathering and analysis tools, techniques, and processes.
• Project management skills to meet required deadlines.
• Competency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

• At least one year of audit experience.
• CPA, CMA, CIA, or CISA designation.
• Extensive knowledge of internal audit processes.
• Application of organizational acumen to identify key success factors.
• Knowledge of Workday functionality and controls.

Salary range: $55,000 to $70,000. Background checks (criminal and credential) will be conducted. Benefits for eligible non‑temporary positions include comprehensive health, dental, vision, and retirement plans, among others.
