First Interstate Bank seeks an Associate Community Banker located in Cedar Falls, IA to provide personalized client service and maintain relationships in accordance with bank service commitments and values.

Summary

The Associate Community Banker engages in financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine their needs and provide appropriate solutions. Responsibilities include managing cash handling, account openings, teller duties, loan processing, and referrals to other banking lines.

Responsibilities
  • Delivers personalized client service in person and over the phone, answering questions, assisting with issues, and offering solutions.
  • Opens and maintains a variety of products, including consumer and basic business checking and savings accounts, Individual Retirement Accounts, Certificates of Deposit, consumer credit cards, and more.
  • Performs teller duties, conducting a variety of financial transactions such as check cashing, deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and accurately counting currency and coin.
  • May engage in conversations about and process new consumer loan requests.
  • Holds financial conversations with clients and prospects to determine needs and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Identifies referral opportunities to other lines of business including, but not limited to, Home Loans, Treasury Solutions, Merchant Services, Business Banking, and Wealth Management, consistently utilizing 360 View to document referrals and other client activity.
  • Builds client relationships through proactive outreach and follow-up.
  • Completes work accurately with minimal errors.
  • Participates in volunteer activities and financial education efforts.
  • Stays current on regulatory changes and demonstrates compliance with all bank regulations, policies, and procedures related to assigned job functions; knowledge may be gained through coursework and on‑the‑job training.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must demonstrate strong attention to detail, follow instructions, maintain confidentiality, use tact and diplomacy when interacting with clients and coworkers, and possess knowledge of personal computers, Microsoft programs, 10‑key skills, CRM systems, and emerging technologies. Additional skills include reading and comprehending instructions, writing simple correspondence, presenting information in one‑on‑one and small‑group settings, basic arithmetic, problem‑solving, and timely completion of work.

Complies with the S.A.F.E. Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008 and related regulations. Employment contingent upon satisfactory background investigation results.

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required. Banking or related experience required.

Physical Demands and Working Environment

Dexterity of hands/fingers to operate computer keyboard and mouse; frequently handling, hearing, lifting (up to 25 lbs), sitting, occasionally standing, frequently talking, frequently walking, occasional noise level (moderate). Typical work hours vary based on scheduling and business need. Regular and predictable attendance required. Travel as needed.
