Nurse Mentor - Thuesen Cottage Lead with Purpose. Inspire Excellence. Care with Passion. Western Home Communities is looking for a dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our team as Nurse Mentor at Thuesen Cottage. This is more than a nursing position—it's an opportunity to shape the future of care. As a Nurse Mentor, you'll lead by example, guide and support caregivers, and help cultivate an environment where residents feel valued and team members feel empowered.

- Provide direct resident care while mentoring and supporting all levels of care staff
- Identify and manage infection control practices; educate team members on proper precautions
- Oversee and participate in MDS processes — including scheduling and transmitting assessments
- Supervise and guide direct care staff to ensure the highest standards of care are met
- Administer medications, treatments, and physician-ordered care with precision and accountability
- Communicate effectively with physicians, supervisors, and family members regarding resident needs and progress
- Foster a team-oriented, compassionate, and professional environment
- Graduate of a state board‑approved Registered Nurse (RN) program
- Current Iowa RN license in good standing
- Strong organizational, communication, and leadership skills
- Preferred:
Familiarity with MDS process - Preferred:
Certification in Infection Prevention and Control (or willingness to obtain) - Completion of the Iowa mandatory supervisory course (or willingness to complete within 6 months)
- Current CPR certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Flexibility to work weekends and holidays as needed
