Merchandising Buyer (Finance)

Job Overview:
The Merchandising Buyers are responsible for regular daily buying replenishment to meet service level goals as well as inventory turns. Buyers work closely with our Vendor Partners and our Category Marketing Managers to ensure we have the right products, at the right price for our customers. They are responsible for maintaining assigned vendors in our buying program to provide the best service and growth for Martin Bros, our customers, and our vendors.

• Responsible for daily replenishment buying of assigned vendors.
• Timely processing of purchase orders; use and understand Clarity and its functions.
• Maintain expected service levels and inventory levels; confirm purchase orders and pricing; fix discrepancies.
• Perform all inventory replenishment and expedite inventory based on out-of-stock status, including late trucks.
• Update base cost and freight costs on items/lines with increases/decreases.
• Report damaged product issues and claims; email/fax all freight sheets to appropriate parties; follow up on freight claims and issues.
• Oversee data integrity to keep information accurate and consistent.
• Maintain and update current and new item setup for accuracy; perform new item maintenance in AS400 and HQ; ensure accurate GTINs, IFDA and commodity codes.
• Keep additional descriptions and images up to date in AS/400 and HQ; maintain vendor involvement and support.
• Continue HQ item and vendor maintenance as fields evolve; backhaul points and break-item maintenance.
• Maintain Item, Vendor and Clarity data.
• Regularly review current and new item forecasting and profiling for seasonality; perform demand exceptions and order cycle optimization of vendors.
• Identify, communicate, and eliminate closeout items/consolidations.
• Daily service communication on service issues to the sales staff.
• Complete vendor price changes and market pricing to maximize profitability.
• Perform Clarity maintenance: add new vendors and manage new and lost customer business.
• Inventory Management: handle all special orders and complete reports for orders one month and older.
• Interact with sales representatives and their calls (primarily related to existing items, PO arrival times, add-ons, etc.).
• Notify category manager or broker of slow-moving items and category duplications; order samples as needed; maintain inventory levels/turns and service levels.
• Daily, weekly, and monthly monitors of all assigned reports.

• Experience with daily replenishment buying and inventory management.
• Familiarity with Clarity systems and processes.
• Experience maintaining item setups in AS400 and HQ; managing GTINs, IFDA and commodity codes.
• Ability to manage vendor relationships and execute pricing and market changes to support profitability.
• Strong attention to data integrity, forecasting, and seasonality analysis.
• Proficiency in handling special orders, vendor communications, and service levels.
