Plato’s Closet Cedar Falls is a fun, fast‑paced resale store for gently used, brand‑name clothing and accessories. No two days look the same, and the energy on the sales floor is a big part of what makes it a great place to work.
WHAT YOU'LL DOAs Assistant Manager, you’ll partner with our management team to keep the store running smoothly and the team motivated. Day to day, that looks like:
Leading the team- Coach, train, and support Buyers, Keyholders, and Sales Associates
- Onboard new hires and help them succeed from day one
- Build a positive store culture by engaging with the team, gathering feedback, and leading by example
- Roll out strategies that boost teamwork, morale, and day‑to‑day workplace dynamics
- Learn and operate our point‑of‑sale and reporting systems (DRS)
- Grow into scheduling, payroll, and inventory/month‑end reporting
- Track and order supplies, oversee back stock, and complete safe audits
- Assist with banking and help implement company policies and procedures
- Guide Buyers so purchasing stays on‑target with management’s direction
- Keep the store clean, organized, well‑merchandised, and consistently stocked
- Support local and social media marketing for the Cedar Falls store
- Create a welcoming shopping experience that keeps customers coming back
- Jump in on the many other things that come up in the day‑to‑day life of the store
- Leadership instincts – people naturally look to you, and you enjoy bringing out the best in a team
- Retail, customer service, or supervisory experience is a plus, but a strong work ethic and willingness to learn matter most
- Reliability and flexibility – comfortable working a mix of daytime, evening, and weekend shifts
- Organization and follow‑through – you can juggle several priorities without dropping the ball
- A positive, team‑first attitude and a genuine interest in fashion, resale, or retail
- Comfort with technology and everyday tools like scheduling, reporting, and point‑of‑sale systems
- Store hours: Monday–Saturday, 10 AM–9 PM;
Sunday, 11 AM–6 PM - Hours: This role can be full‑time or part‑time depending on your availability and ours. Our management team works a variety of shifts across the week — days, evenings, and weekends — to keep leadership consistent for our team. Managers occasionally respond to team needs by phone or text outside of scheduled hours.
