The Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Analyst is responsible for the creation, management, and maintenance of GIS data as well as management of GIS platforms and other routine geospatial processing tasks that are assigned. Primary duties include capturing and editing spatial and attribute data, creating maps using ArcGIS Pro & ArcGIS Online, and assisting with Enterprise GIS setup. The GIS Analyst will also perform a variety of technical and skilled tasks in the operation of the City's GIS with their main concentration on 911 address data management, planning, engineering, and utility GIS data.
The position reports to the GIS Manager and does not supervise others within the department.
- Provides advanced analytical support for various GIS and related technology projects across the city; assists in the planning, management, and implementation of projects, budgets, policies, training.
- Provides premier customer service to internal and external customers by responding to requests from City departments, as well as internal and external customers regarding questions, concerns, and requests for assistance and information in a timely and professional manner.
- Responsible for creating, editing, managing, and maintaining the City's GIS data including but not limited to data collection, input, and linkages of information/images into GIS and Asset Management System.
- Assists the GIS Manager in setting up and maintaining ArcGIS Enterprise systems including Portal for ArcGIS, ArcGIS Server, Enterprise Geodatabases and web services consumed by various GIS applications.
- Responsible for creating and maintaining web-based GIS products such as web maps, story maps, dashboards etc. and their associated data, and crafting marketing campaigns with GIS.
- Use attribute rules, python, & other programming languages to automate GIS tasks.
- Responsible for “As-Built” record drawing archiving and ensuring new data are added to the GIS utility network. Provides the public, consultants, and other agencies with access to the as-builts or digital data as needed.
- Responsible for assisting Public Safety with GIS needs (Incident Dashboards, Crime Mapping, Floor Plans)
- Responsible for updating the Planning department's online products (Interactive Zoning map, development dashboard, etc.).
- Supports departments with Location Maps, Notifications, and other maps. Provides technical support in GIS best practices and procedures, and ESRI software.
- Collects, verifies, and updates the City's map including but not limited to roads, structures, street centerlines, utilities, zoning districts, property parcels, taxation, and CCN's.
