Responsible for all activities associated with operating the unitizer and corresponding equipment, including setup, operation, cleanup, and recommending improvements to operations.
Duties and Responsibilities- Operate the unitizer and corresponding equipment, accurately placing bands and stretch wrap using proper setup techniques.
- Ensure proper placement of unit tags and cover sheets and correct stacking patterns.
- Scan barcodes on units going through the unitizer.
- Make neat units with the proper number of bands on each unit.
- Maximize equipment utilization by operating machinery at available capacity and speed.
- Complete necessary reports accurately and timely, including production data, machine operational status, safety data, and quality data.
- Ensure unit quantities are correct.
- Pull excess scrap from units.
- Operate a forklift safely when necessary.
- Turn in maintenance orders to supervision for needed repairs and be proactive in equipment maintenance.
- Adhere to production schedule, recommending schedule optimization to meet cost, quality, and service goals.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and good housekeeping.
- Additional duties may be assigned by management.
High school diploma or GED required.
Preferred Qualifications- Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.
- Six months experience in the Press or Finishing Department.
- Prior work experience as a forklift operator.
Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Mathematical SkillsAble to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy; calculate figures such as percentages, measurements, volume, and rate; apply concepts of high school math.
Reasoning AbilityAbility to apply common sense in written, oral, or graphic instructions; solve problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills- Working knowledge of equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
Physical DemandsRequired to stand, walk, talk or hear; frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; occasionally sit; lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally up to 100 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work EnvironmentRegularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, wet or humid conditions; occasionally exposed to high precarious places, fumes, airborne particles, and vibration; noise level usually loud.
