Summary

Duties And Responsibilities
  • Operate the forklift in a safe manner.
  • Complete forklift inspection report at the beginning of each shift and turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs.
  • Arrive early to ensure Starch kitchen is ready prior to production beginning.
  • Make starch as needed per company formula to keep the corrugator running.
  • Check viscosities on the corrugator and at the starch station as necessary.
  • Accurately record daily starch checklist, viscosities & gel points.
  • Troubleshoot issues with starch system and wastewater to eliminate downtime.
  • Maintain the wastewater treatment facility.
  • Monitor inventory levels of starch and chemicals.
  • Read related MSDS and learn proper response for emergency chemical spills or skin contact.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
  • Assist in daily/monthly roll stock inventory management.
  • Maintain the drive side of Gator for housekeeping. Day tanks & pits cleaned.
  • Assist with Hogger responsibilities.
  • Will be required to rotate shifts to assist in training or production.
  • Management may assign additional duties.
Education And/or Experience
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Candidates who are preferred who offer the following:
    • Prior industrial power truck or heavy equipment operating experience.
    • Background in maintenance is preferred.
Language Skills
  • Able to read and follow instructions on factory masters.
Mathematical Skills
  • Able to read a tape measure with speed and accuracy.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as percentages, measurement, volume, and rate.
  • Able to apply concepts of high school math.
Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or graphic form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving one or more concrete variables in standardized situations.
Technical Skills

The individual must have knowledge of the following:

  • Equipment design and capabilities that can be translated into efficient operation.
  • Product layouts and production specifications.
  • Quality standards.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.
Physical Demands
  • Stand, walk, talk or hear regularly.
  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl regularly.
  • Occasional sitting.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts.
  • Frequently exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • Occasionally exposed to high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration.
  • Noise level usually loud.

  • Operating standards: meet or exceed the operating standards in quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction, and productivity; such standards will be set annually and communicated to the employee.
