What you can expect as a Weekend Nacelles Technician at DAS Aviation:As Sheet metal Technician, each day will bring new experiences and opportunities for growth. You will need to have a basic to advanced knowledge of aircraft structures, reading blueprints, working from drawings, fastening systems, procedures and techniques.
You Will Be ESSENTIAL To Many FUNCTIONS Including- Perform basic sheet metal operations such as drilling, riveting, cutting on airframe components.
- Application and removal of sealant, sound deadening and finish materials.
- Maintenance, cleaning and repair of shop facilities, equipment and tooling when required.
- Safely operate shop equipment such as: brakes, presses, riveting equipment, shears, and hand tools associated with sheet‑metal functions.
- Basic computer skills to be able to navigate electronic training, manuals, and maintenance databases.
- Effectively and clearly communicate (i.e., speak, write, read) in English.
- Any other job‑related duties as assigned by supervisor or management.
A high school diploma or equivalent. Airframe and Powerplant License is not required, but welcome. A valid driver’s license approved for airline travel and/or a valid passport is ideal, but not mandatory.
Your ExperienceKnowledge of sheet metal or fabrication processes (forming, drilling, stamping, shaping, bending, punching, cutting, riveting, filing and dimpling).
Journeyman: 0‑5 years of experience as sheet metal technician.
Master: 5+ years’ experience as a sheet metal technician.
Your InitiativeWe’re looking for team players who are self‑motivated and able to perform in a fast‑paced environment where working under specific deadlines and time constraints will be common.
Your Sense Of ResponsibilityAttend work every day as scheduled; opportunities to work overtime as workflow permits.
Notify supervisor in advance of shift starting if unable to work.
Must have reliable transportation to get to work each and every day.
Perform all work in accordance with Federal Aviation Administration guidelines.
Follow all company and safety rules during performance of duties.
Maintain customer oriented work habits.
Physical RequirementsLifts 50 lbs. Routine walking, bending and squatting or sitting. Routine or repetitive physical motion with arms and hands. Climb ladders and stairs, work in small restricted areas. Standing for long periods of time.
Mental RequirementsUnderstanding and implementation of regulations and guidelines. Troubleshoot or evaluate system operation. Work with others in a professional manner.
SupervisionWork under supervision of assigned Team Leader.
Working ConditionsWork is performed in controlled environments in industrial warehouses. Multiple Departments to include:
Teardown/Evaluation, Nacelle and heavy structural repairs, light structures repair on components.
Personal hand tools supplied by the mechanic. Pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical equipment.
