Overview
The Sr. Market Category Manager manages the daily actions of the team while continuing to expand and sustain growth for Satellite consumables, guiding both current and prospective client engagement. This role identifies market opportunities, directs product launches, and sets strategic gross margin goals for assigned SKUs. Additionally, this role is a strategic partner and first point of contact in questions and concerns from other members of the Market Category Team.
Key responsibilities include P&L management, supplier evaluation, competitive pricing analysis, and implementing data-driven improvements.
- Partner with the Director of Business Category & Operations to manage the Market Category team’s activities and objectives.
- Product Growth:
Seek out new business opportunities, support the introduction of new products, track key financial metrics, and drive growth initiatives for assigned categories. - New Product Development:
Manage the planning and execution of new product launches, coordinate with internal teams and external partners, and develop long-term growth roadmaps for category expansion. - Supplier Management:
Lead supplier onboarding and evaluation, negotiate and write contracts, and consolidate suppliers to align with company goals; source products to meet customer demand and customize kits as needed. - Sales
Collaboration:
Work closely with the sales team to introduce new product categories, secure temporary suppliers, and develop custom product solutions. Deliver accurate revenue forecasts and provide technical support for product enhancements representing product knowledge in customer facing interactions. - Industry Engagement:
Represent the company at trade events, present products, and generate new sales leads through customer engagement. - Supply Chain Partnership:
Anticipate and address supply chain challenges, such as freight disruptions or regulatory changes, and support the transition of products to sustainable supplier sources. - P&L Ownership:
Take full ownership of profit and loss for assigned markets, setting aggressive targets for gross profit percentage and new business growth each quarter. - Marketing
Collaboration:
Work with marketing to boost product visibility, launch campaigns, and oversee cross-functional projects including catalog automation and private-label development. - Sales Tools & Reporting:
Maintain accurate sales tools and materials, manage promotional programs, and report monthly on category performance, providing actionable insights to leadership. - Category Management:
Serve as the primary contact for assigned SKUs, ensuring accurate product information is communicated across teams and acting as a resource for technical support and product applications.
This position supervises all employees, temporary workers, and contractors within the business development department.
Education and Experience Requirements- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of experience in industry sales or business development.
- Experience in managing a customer facing team.
- Business category Management requires significant business acumen, professionalism, and knowledge as well as advanced interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of industry standards and expectations to ensure accuracy of product development.
- Understanding of supply chain management and product development processes.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and adapt to changing market conditions.

Position requires a high degree of concentration to manage frequent interruptions while meeting strict deadlines. This position requires the ability to perform duties using both typical office equipment such as computers, cell phones, and printers as well as the ability to communicate and perform tasks in a manufacturing/workshop environment. Must be able to perform physical and mental tasks associated within multiple environments.
This position also requires travel for meeting with customers, attending trade shows, and participating in other business-related activities.
