Design for Leisure (DFL) is a team of hydrothermal spa specialists working in partnership with owners, operators, architects, and designers to bring European-inspired hydrotherapy concepts to life. Our expertise in building best-in-class wet areas ranges from small but luxurious residential thermal suites with acclaimed hydrothermal circuits for 5-star hospitality projects and luxury commercial developments.
What We’re Looking ForDFL is looking for a Commercial Interiors Superintendent willing to work in a fast-paced, multinational company. This position will require experience managing on-site activities, ensuring quality workmanship, adhering to project timelines and budgets, and coordinating subcontractors. We are looking for a candidate who is eager to join a growing company in the unique wellness industry, has exemplary leadership and communication skills, with experience in construction or related industries.
The ideal person for this role must possess the ability to train and lead a crew in installations and proper manufacturing related techniques. This position requires a significant amount of travel with some mobilizations of up to two weeks at a time being common. Maintaining of a positive can-do attitude with a levelheaded approach to problem solving is crucial to being an effective leader with DFL.
Your Day Looks Like
- Overseeing daily on-site project management for luxury construction projects.
- Coordinating all aspects of the project, including execution and quality control.
- Managing, coaching and assessing subcontractor’s strengths and areas for improvement to make sure the right person is on every job.
- Working alongside your crew. Many days you will be spent installing our products.
- Real-time problem solving and communication between subcontractors and DFL team.
- Collaborating with project managers and internal team to meet deadlines and optimize resources without compromising quality.
- Monitoring workmanship to ensure it aligns with luxury standards through regular inspections and addressing any deficiencies promptly.
- Standardizing and documenting installation procedures to ensure quality and uniformity throughout all projects.
- Ensuring on-site safety compliance, cleanliness, and orderliness.
- Maintaining accurate daily work reports and work plans, updating project schedules, and managing priorities to meet milestones.
- Attending meetings with clients, vendors, and external partners, working closely with project managers, architects, and subcontractors.
- 5+ years as a lead superintendent on commercial interior projects.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting architectural drawings and contract documents.
- Strong leadership skills to manage on-site teams effectively.
- Keen attention to detail to maintain quality standards.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to identify and solve construction-related challenges.
- Strong comprehension of Mech/Elec./Plum. (MEP) requirements and trade practices.
- Experience in luxury retail construction.
- Knowledgeable with project management software (e.g. Procore, Builder Trend) and tools.
