We are seeking an experienced CNC Lathe Machinist for a 3-month temporary assignment. This position requires a strong quality mindset, the ability to independently perform multiple setups per day, and experience operating and setting up CNC lathes in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment. Candidates with Mazak experience are strongly preferred
, and ROMI experience is a plus
.
Pay Rate: $25.00 - $30.00/hour (Based on Experience)
Key Skills Required- Strong quality mindset and accountability with ability to identify and contain nonconforming parts with zero escapes.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills with the ability to explain why parts are not meeting specifications.
- Independent setup and teardown capabilities in a high-mix, low-volume environment requiring multiple setups per day.
- Previous experience with Mazak CNC lathes preferred
. - Experience with ROMI machines is a plus
.
- Set up and operate CNC lathes, including Okuma and Mazak machines, safely and efficiently.
- Perform setup changes and first article inspections during production runs.
- Load parts using overhead lifting equipment.
- Prove programs, set offsets, perform minor program edits, deburr components, and inspect finished parts.
- Monitor machining operations and adjust machine controls as needed to maintain quality standards.
- Read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and technical drawings to determine dimensions, tolerances, and tooling requirements.
- Utilize precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
- Maintain knowledge of tooling, fixtures, feeds, speeds, cutting tools, and machining parameters.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area and perform basic preventive maintenance.
- Follow all company Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Minimum of 3 years of CNC Lathe Machinist experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of CNC machining principles, setup, and operation.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
- Experience using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to perform multiple setups throughout the day.
- Experience with multi-axis CNC lathes preferred.
- Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles is a plus.
- Strong work ethic and ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Must be able to successfully pass a background check.
- Frequent standing, sitting, bending, and reaching.
- Ability to lift and move materials weighing up to 40 pounds.
- Frequent use of computers and machinery requiring finger dexterity.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and visually inspect components and equipment.
