Senior Manufacturing Engineer
Location:
Cedar Park, TX (4 days onsite, 1 day remote) Engagement Type:
Permanent Role Target Compensation: $120,000-$160,000 + comprehensive benefits
Here's what you'll be doing:
- Develop Initial Build Methodologies & Scale Production:
Collaborate with production leadership and design engineering teams to establish prototype assembly processes and then evolve and expand these methodologies for full-scale manufacturing. - Process Design & Optimization:
Engineer, develop, and deploy efficient manufacturing procedures for power unit and generator assembly operations. - Drive Continuous Improvement:
Identify and spearhead initiatives aimed at enhancing productivity, minimizing waste, and boosting operational efficiency through lean methodologies. - Provide Technical Leadership:
Act as a subject matter expert for assembly procedures, offering technical guidance and support to production teams. - Integrate Advanced Manufacturing:
Incorporate modern manufacturing technologies (e.g., 3D printing) into production processes where applicable, to improve design flexibility and reduce costs. - Manage Manufacturing Projects:
Oversee interdisciplinary projects, ensuring adherence to specified timelines, budgets, and objectives. - Conduct Problem Solving & Analysis:
Support root cause analysis and corrective action initiatives to address manufacturing issues and enhance product quality. - Specify Tooling & Equipment:
Design and determine specifications for specialized tooling, jigs, and fixtures to facilitate production activities.
Here's what our ideal candidate has:
- Foundational
Education:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial). An advanced technical or business degree is advantageous. - Extensive Manufacturing
Experience:
Over 7 years of experience in a manufacturing engineering capacity, with considerable background in the assembly of power units, generator sets, and/or electric motors. - Business Acumen:
Understanding of business value drivers and the ability to objectively evaluate and justify strategic options. - Precision Manufacturing Background:
Experience in aerospace or other high-precision manufacturing sectors is strongly preferred. - Process Improvement Expertise:
Proven expertise in manufacturing process development and enhancement (e.g., lean principles, continuous improvement methodologies, error detection/prevention, fixture design). - Experience with experimental design, measurement system analysis, and process validation.
- Tooling Design Capability:
Capability to design specialized tooling for medium to high-volume production. - Automation Implementation:
Demonstrated experience deploying automation within manufacturing workflows. - Prototype to Production Scaling:
Background in prototype development and scaling initial processes to full production volumes. - Fabrication & Assembly
Experience:
Experience with bespoke fabrication, and assembly processes for power units, generator sets, and electric motors. - Software Proficiency:
Proficiency in leading design software (e.g., 3D CAD, tolerance stack-up analysis, geometric dimensioning & tolerancing) and manufacturing execution systems. - Continuous Improvement Knowledge:
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, and similar continuous improvement frameworks. - Industry Standards Familiarity:
Knowledge of industry-specific quality standards and regulatory compliance (e.g., those found in automotive or aerospace). - Additive Manufacturing:
Experience with additive manufacturing techniques (e.g., 3D printing) is a plus.
Working Conditions & Travel:
This is a full-time, salaried position, operating in both office and manufacturing/production environments. Potential for extended on-site presence during new process development. Regular travel (up to 30%) to various engineering and production facilities.
