Position: Advanced Practice Provider (APP)

Advanced Practice Provider (APP) – Medical Oncology

Texas Oncology Cedar Park is seeking an Advanced Practice Provider to support the Medical Oncology Department at Cedar Park and Leander locations. This full‑time position requires Monday through Friday, 8:30 am‑5 pm, with four and a half clinic days and half a day dedicated to administrative tasks. The role is available at Level 1, 2 or Sr based on candidate experience.

What the Advanced Practice Provider Does

The primary role is to provide direct diagnostic and therapeutic patient care in collaboration with practicing physicians. The APP impacts quality of care and patient outcomes across the continuum, supporting the US Oncology Compliance Program, the Code of Ethics, and Business Standards.

Responsibilities
  • Direct care and management in outpatient, inpatient, and surgical settings, including documentation, patient and family education, order and review of diagnostic studies, prescribing medications, symptom management, counseling and support, referral coordination, and education of staff, students, and community.
  • Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary team. Interdependent practice with collaborative physician(s) and team.
  • Proficient use of Electronic Health Record per Texas Oncology policy and guidelines. Complete documentation accurately.
  • Build strong collaborative relationships across the organization and the local medical community.
  • Perform diagnostic/therapeutic procedures as appropriate.
  • Participate in tumor board, institutional trainings, and meetings as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will meet the following background and experience criteria based on the required level.

  • Level 1 (entry‑level) – 0–3 years of experience.
  • Level 2 – 3–5 years of experience.
  • Level Sr – 6+ years of experience.

Nurse Practitioner: Masters of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited nursing school and completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program; RN state licensure and current registration; current Nurse Practitioner license; basic life support (BLS)/CPR certification required.

Physician Assistant: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; current National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA) certification; state license; BLS/CPR certification required.

Clinical Nurse Specialist: MSN from an accredited nursing school and completion of a Clinical Nurse Specialist program; RN state licensure and current registration; current Clinical Nurse Specialist license; BLS/CPR certification required.

Physical Demands

Requires full range of motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye‑hand coordination, standing and walking for extended periods, occasional lifting of items up to 40 lb, corrected vision and hearing within normal range.

Work Environment

Exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, medical preparations, and other conditions common to an oncology/hematology clinic environment.
