Overview

We are looking for someone who can work between 10-14 hours per week. This position can be a level 1, 2, or Sr based on candidate experience. Texas Oncology is seeking a PRN Infusion Registered Nurse (RN) to support the Infusion Department at our Cedar Park location. The clinic operates Monday through Friday 8am-5pm with no weekends, call, or holidays.

Responsibilities
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, evaluate and promote continuity of care consistent with established standards and practices.
  • Assess patient/family needs and provide teaching and instructional material.
  • Prepare and administer therapies under the direction and supervision of a physician.
  • Administer all medications/blood products using correct medication/blood product, dosage/amount, route, time and technique.
  • Ensure pre-authorization and appropriate consent forms are obtained prior to administration of therapies where applicable.
  • Facilitate dose modification by assessing patient, assessing labs, consulting protocol or treatment plan, calculating dose, and consulting physician regarding dosage modifications, problems and symptom management.
  • Perform venipuncture, access implanted ports and maintain central line catheter devices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of assigned patient care and treatments provided.
  • Apply knowledge of reimbursement procedures and charge capture.
Qualifications
  • Level 1:
    Graduate from an accredited nursing program (BSN preferred). State RN license and current registration with the State Board of Nursing. 0-3 years nursing experience, preferably at least one year in oncology. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Level 2 (additional to Level
    1): 3-5 years nursing experience. Oncology certification preferred.
  • Level Sr (additional to Levels 1 &
    2):
    Five years nursing experience.

The role may involve exposure to communicable diseases, toxic substances, ionizing radiation, and other conditions common to a oncology/hematology clinic environment. Reasonable accommodations may be provided to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Physical Requirements

Requires full range of body motion, handling and lifting patients, manual and finger dexterity, eye-hand coordination, standing and walking for extensive periods, occasional lifting up to 40 lbs, and corrected vision and hearing to normal range.
