Position Summary

The Environmental Housekeeping Supervisor is responsible for supervising the housekeeping and laundry departments to ensure a clean, sanitary, safe, and comfortable environment for residents, visitors, and staff. The supervisor ensures compliance with infection prevention standards and facility policies.

Reports To: Administrator

Essential Duties
  • Supervise daily housekeeping and laundry operations.
  • Schedule, train, coach, and evaluate housekeeping staff.
  • Conduct daily inspections of resident rooms, common areas, offices, dining rooms, and public spaces.
  • Ensure infection prevention and sanitation procedures are followed.
  • Maintain adequate inventory of cleaning chemicals, linens, and supplies.
  • Coordinate room turnovers for admissions, discharges, and transfers.
  • Respond promptly to housekeeping requests from residents and nursing staff.
  • Participate in Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement (QAPI) activities.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of housekeeping equipment.
  • Maintain Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and chemical safety compliance.
  • Assist with budget control and purchasing.
  • Participate in emergency preparedness and disaster response.
  • Work closely with Nursing, Maintenance, Dietary, and Administration to resolve environmental concerns.
  • Perform housekeeping duties as needed when staffing requires.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Housekeeping and Laundry experience in a healthcare, long-term care or institutional setting preferred.
  • One or more years of supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of infection control principles preferred.
  • Knowledge of CMS and Texas nursing home regulations preferred.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting.
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals and infectious materials.
  • Ability to work weekends, holidays, and emergency situations when needed.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand/walk for extended periods.
