PACU Manager

St. David’s Medical Center seeks an experienced PACU Manager to lead our post‑anesthesia care unit within our advanced neurological program. The PACU Manager oversees day‑to‑day clinical operations, staffing, and patient flow to ensure safe, timely recovery after surgery. Responsibilities include supervising and mentoring RN staff, managing budgets and quality metrics, coordinating with anesthesia and surgical teams, and driving compliance with regulatory standards.

This leader promotes patient‑centered, evidence‑based practice, fosters collaboration and excellence, and supports continuous professional development in a fast‑paced, high‑acuity environment.

• Oversee daily PACU operations and patient flow
• Supervise, schedule, and mentor PACU nursing staff
• Ensure high standards of patient safety and quality of care
• Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and interdisciplinary teams
• Monitor and improve clinical outcomes and key quality metrics
• Maintain regulatory compliance and readiness for surveys
• Develop and implement evidence‑based policies and protocols
• Manage unit budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation
• Lead staff education, onboarding, and performance evaluations
• Promote a culture of teamwork, compassion, and patient‑centered care
• Post‑anesthesia nursing

• Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems
• Regulatory compliance (Joint Commission, CMS)

• Current RN license (TX or compact)
• BLS certification
• ACLS certification
• PALS certification (preferred)
• Certified Post Anesthesia Nurse (CPAN) or Certified Ambulatory Perianesthesia Nurse (CAPA) preferred
• Nurse leadership/management training (preferred)
