Veterinary Technician – Lead, Full-time, Cedar Park, TX. Compensation negotiable based on credentials and experience with an hourly pay up to $25/hour. The actual rate offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. SIGN-ON BONUS AVAILABLE!

About You

As a Lead Veterinary Technician, you ll play an important role in pets  lives by providing comprehensive care throughout their journey. Your life-changing work will range from the hands-on care of facilitating outpatient treatments and performing laboratory tests, to surgery assistance, to support services including admitting and discharging patients.

Role Responsibilities
  • Work closely with the Practice Manager and Medical Director to supervise, train, and mentor technicians and assistants.
  • Coordinate schedules, delegate tasks, and manage workflow to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Assist with evaluations of technicians and assistants and provide input on performance.
  • Lead staff meetings alongside the Practice Manager.
  • Participate in Thrive planning meetings and attend seminars that pertain to it.
  • Communicate with the manager about non-routine or unusual situations and recommend solutions.
  • Keep up to date with veterinary software, products, medical equipment, and veterinary medicine advancements and provide staff training.
  • Communicate hospital policies and procedures to staff and clients when required.
  • Supervise the completion of daily checklists and weekly maintenance logs for technicians and assistants.
  • Treat all employees fairly and impartially with regard to scheduling, coaching, and discipline.
  • Resolve informal employee complaints and help mediate interpersonal problems amongst the staff.
  • Lead by example, promoting professionalism and excellent patient care and customer service.
  • Demonstrate initiative in everyday duties and assist employees.
  • Adhere to all hospital policies, standards, and procedures as stated in the manual and/or by standard operating procedures.
  • With each hospital function, assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  • Assist with appointments, surgeries and procedures in accordance with the state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  • Assist in maintaining relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems.
  • Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • At least three years’ recent experience as a Veterinary Technician.
  • Demonstrate ability to lead and manage a team.
  • Ability to perform routine veterinary medical procedures (e.g., collect samples, draw blood, and administer injections), maintain and understand medical equipment, and be competent with veterinary software.
  • Knowledge of spelling and meaning of commonly used veterinary medical terminology and procedures.
  • Ability to complete assigned tasks in the time allotted without direct supervision.
  • Demonstrates the ability to show empathy toward clients, staff, and treat animals with respect and compassion while maintaining a commitment to outstanding client service.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.
