Shermco Industries is accredited by NETA and has one of the largest field services divisions in the industry.
Shermco Industries is seeking a Senior Electrical Field Service Technician.
Position
Purpose:
The Senior Service Technician is responsible for leading and supervising all activities performed by the service department while in the field. The service department is responsible for the maintenance, testing and repair of electrical equipment at customer locations throughout the region.
- Field Service Test Technicians travel to customer sites (industrial & commercial) to inspect, test, troubleshoot, perform start-up and collect data of low, medium and high voltage (480 Volt to 600 kV) electrical systems.
- Able to travel to customer job sites across the state and bordering states.
- Instrument transformer tests.
- Power transformer testing - Doble, TTR, Insulation Resistance, etc.
- Preferred if proficient in testing both electro-mechanical and solid-state relays
- Cable testing - Tan Delta, Power Factor, VLF, DC Hipot.
- Automatic transfer switch troubleshooting.
- Low, Medium and High voltage switch gear and circuit breaker testing.
- Moderately complex relay calibration and power metering.
- Rotate emergency on-call duty and if called respond to customer emergencies in a timely manner.
- High School diploma
- Advanced knowledge of electrical calculations
- Hands on electrical and mechanical skills and experience
- Thorough Understanding of AC & DC Theory
- Understanding of short circuit analysis
- Ability to perform equipment failure analysis
- Advanced knowledge and application of NEC, NETA Standards
- Advanced computer skills
- 100 hours of safety training
- First Aid
- CPR
- Fire Protection
- Confined Space
- PPE Selection and Application
- Lockout/Tagout
- Switching and Grounding
- 5+ years
- Master Electrician or Journeyman
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test and periodic, unannounced random drug tests
- Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check
- All offers are conditioned on acceptable results from a background check and drug and alcohol screening.
- Must be able to crawl, climb, stand and lift up to 100 lbs., with or without reasonable accommodations.
- Must be able to pass a fit for duty physical exam
- Must have a valid driver's license, and currently have and be able to maintain a good driving record
- Must be available for regular overnight domestic travel and occasional international travel
- U.S. passport & TWIC card a plus
- Must be willing to work flexible hours and overtime, and occasional weekends, holidays and nights.
- If applying for position, must be eligible to work in the U.S. without need for employer sponsored visa (work permit).
- Must be willing to travel
