The RoleWe are seeking an experienced Accounting Manager to oversee financial operations for a rapidly growing manufacturer in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. This role is integral to ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance with regulations, and optimizing accounting systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in cost accounting, financial accounting, system implementation, and financial leadership within a manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities- Perform accounting functions, including general ledger, payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and inventory accounting.
- Prepare monthly and annual financial statements in compliance with relevant standards.
- Ensure adherence to tax regulations, audit requirements, and internal control policies.
- Develop and maintain accurate costing models, inventory valuations, and variance analyses.
- Support a high-mix, precision manufacturing environment with job-level costing and margin analysis, as appropriate.
- Partner with operations teams to evaluate production costs, material usage, and efficiency metrics.
- Provide financial analyses that support strategic decision-making.
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes.
- Lead or support accounting system enhancements, data cleanup, and process standardization in a growing manufacturing operation.
- Preparation all union reporting.
- Maintain and report enrollment in group insurance programs.
- Prepare and present financial insights to ownership and senior leadership to support operational and strategic decisions.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field.
- Certification such as CMA is highly desirable.
- At least five years of progressive finance experience within a manufacturing setting.
- Expertise in cost accounting, inventory control, and production financial analysis.
- Experience in leading system implementations or upgrades in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Ability to work independently.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
