Tax Accountant

This role sits within the corporate tax function, supporting federal, state, and local tax compliance and reporting for a large insurance organization. It's a great fit for tax or GAAP accounting professionals who want deeper exposure to the tax side of the insurance industry, including investment taxation, tax provisions, and technical research.

• Research complex federal, state, and local tax issues and document findings/positions
• Prepare and/or review federal, state, and local tax returns
• Prepare quarterly tax provisions
• Prepare investment taxation work papers
• Support GAAP reporting related to tax Contribute to or lead select projects within the tax team
• Mentor and support the development of junior staff (for more senior candidates)

• Background in tax and/or GAAP accounting
• 5+ years of experience preferred, though the team is open to a range of experience levels for the right candidate
• Insurance industry experience highly preferred — life insurance, annuities, employee benefits, retirement, or related lines
• Strong experience in one or more of: tax compliance, tax provisions, tax research, or GAAP reporting
• CPA or progress toward CPA is a plus, not required
• Background from either public accounting or industry is welcome
