PRINCIPAL DUTIES

  • Provide secretarial services to the principal and staff.
  • Establish and maintain files for the principal and school office.
  • Maintain online student database and Infinite Campus files.
  • Interact positively on a daily basis with parents, volunteers, visitors, students and staff.
  • Supervise students in the office area.
  • Prepare necessary district and state reports.
  • Provide backup assistance for the health clinic.
  • Schedule busing for field trips.
  • Oversee time‑clock management for new and existing staff, managing and approving time‑cards.
  • Maintain building calendar in Google.
  • Maintain building schedule for other groups using the facility.
  • Keep deadlines.
  • Handle paperwork involved with bookkeeping, payroll, fee collection, purchasing, substitute teachers, data processing, transportation, student records, and free/reduced lunch.
  • Prepare and act as editor for the school newsletter.
  • Order supplies for all staff.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned or developed.
CLASSIFICATION

Secretarial/Clerical Group F
Eight (8) hours per day. Twelve (12) months.

PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS
  • Knowledge in the operation of computers—word processing, database, spreadsheet applications, and e‑mail.
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn BSO ordering system and Infinite Campus.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize, organize, and initiate responsibility.
  • Successful experience in a responsible secretarial position with experience in working with large numbers of students, parents and staff.
  • Ability to work without supervision.
  • Cross training in health secretary responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of office machines—fax, scanner, and copy machine.
  • Telephone skills that are polite, tactful, and efficient.
DEMONSTRATE PROFICIENCY IN TYPING AND OTHER OFFICE SKILLS
  • Ability to work under pressure with frequent interruptions.
  • Willingness to assume responsibility.
  • Ability to work with staff, students, and the public.
  • Capable of representing the school in a professional manner, including confidentiality, communication skills, and appropriate dress.
  • Willing to participate in ongoing training.
