Position Overview
Director in Business Development for the Resilient Connectivity portfolio (Hybrid; Cedar Rapids, IA). The role reports to the Executive Director of Business Development for the Mission Systems business unit and leads the business development team supporting pursuits and new business capture across U.S. and international communications and datalink technologies.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as a valued partner to the VP/GM for Resilient Connectivity and contribute to the leader team.
- Own responsibility for the annual orders pipeline with a focus on competitive pursuits.
- Collaboratively lead multi‑functional capture efforts and go‑to‑market strategies within the Resilient Connectivity business.
- Manage a team of business development professionals supporting the portfolio as a functional manager.
- Directly plan and manage New Business Investment funds.
- Develop and lead capture strategies within the General Management triad to shape, define, pursue and capture new business, including business cases, gate and milestone reviews, competitive intelligence, price‑to‑win analyses, market shaping, influencing and customer engagement management.
- Develop, forecast, and capture new/existing opportunities, maintaining relationships with military service and platform OEM customers.
- Develop, present, and articulate compelling business growth opportunities that include market and competitive analysis and price‑to‑win strategies via decision point reviews.
- Continuously explore the environment for business and strategic growth opportunities.
- Prepare and support company profiles on competitors and prospective acquisition candidates, including financial analyses, strategic financial plans and annual operations planning.
- Leverage extensive experience and professional networks with senior personnel in the domain.
- Travel approximately 25‑50% of the time.
- University degree with at least 14years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with at least 12years of experience.
- Active and transferable U.S. government‑issued Top Secret security clearance required prior to start.
- U.S. citizenship required.
- Significant (10years or more) defense industry experience leading a team in the development and execution of new business competitive capture strategies.
- Substantial experience with communication technologies (basic RF principles, waveforms, encryption, antennas/apertures) for a variety of platforms.
- Substantial experience working with defense platform and weapon OEMs.
- Experience managing Salesforce CRM.
- Experience interacting with DoW stakeholders across the acquisition process; prior experience at the military service level (CJCS, Army Staff, USAF ACC, USN OPNAV, FLEET/TYCOM/MAJCOM/CECOM) is highly desired.
