Job Overview
The Safety Manager at Rex Moore Electrical & Systems Contractors & Engineers promotes a safe & healthy work environment and continuously improves Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) systems. The role develops and directs safety programs, ensures regulatory compliance, and works directly with project‑level leads to integrate safety/health requirements into work products and activities.
Key Responsibilities- Conduct safety assessments and inspections of projects under construction to monitor compliance with safety/health requirements and contractual commitments.
- Collaborate with internal and external management to develop, prepare, and implement environmental, safety, and security policies and procedures.
- Identify opportunities to eliminate workplace injuries, accidents, and health problems.
- Develop Method of Procedure (MOP), site‑specific safety plans, critical activity plans, and work permits.
- Conduct investigations into injuries, accidents, spills, discharges, theft, vandalism, and property damages; develop written reports with root cause analysis.
- Provide safety and compliance training for supervisors and field employees.
- Document site visits, activities, and incidents with comprehensive written reports.

A single construction site in Iowa. The position is 100% stand‑alone worksite with full travel to the site.
Reporting StructureReports to Corporate Safety & Risk Manager. Department:
General and Admin.
- Experience in a large commercial construction setting with injury prevention, compliance, and risk reduction techniques; commercial or industrial electrical trade experience preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health and Safety with 10+ years of full‑time construction safety management experience, OR trade experience with a board‑certified safety credential (e.g., CSP, CIH, ASP, CHST) and five years of full‑time construction safety management experience, OR trade experience with current OSHA 500 certification and ten years of full‑time construction safety management experience.
- Must possess OSHA 30 construction certificate valid within 5 years.
- Knowledge of state and federal safety regulations as applied to construction and general industry.
- First Aid, CPR & AED certifications and willingness to lead in an emergency.
- Experience with Return‑to‑Work Programs and coordination with workers’ compensation cases.
- Competent Person Designation:
Electrical safety‑NFPA 70E, Excavation, Fall protection and Confined space. - OSHA 500, 501 and 510 certifications.
- MEWP and fall protection training.
- Experience with onsite OSHA investigations and inspections.
- Self‑driven; able to work independently or as part of a team on assigned tasks and initiatives.
- Ability to work split shifts, overtime, weekends and travel as needed.
- Strong computer literacy (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications).
- Strong analytical, problem‑solving, supervisory, and leadership skills.
- Occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds.
- Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, reach with hands and arms at waist level and below the waist; work in limited space.
- Regularly required to talk to communicate detailed and accurate information.
- Regularly required to hear with or without correction to receive and interpret detailed instructions.
- Regularly required to sit for long and short periods at a desk or driving to remote works sites.
- Regularly required to walk for long and short distances to accomplish job tasks.
- Regularly required to reach: ability to extend hand(s) and arm(s) including reaching in front of body, at shoulder level.
- Ability to see with or without correction; specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Regularly work in environments of extreme cold and hot temperatures.
- Regularly work at heights and elevated positions as needed to visually inspect work areas.
