Base Salary Range: $72,000 – $110,000 (Not Including Bonus)
Job Description
The Assistant Superintendent supports the Superintendent in directing daily field operations to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role assists with coordinating subcontractors, monitoring site activities, maintaining documentation, and enforcing safety and quality requirements. The Assistant Superintendent serves as a key on-site leader, helping execute project plans while gaining hands-on experience in commercial construction operations.
Responsibilities
- Assist in administering the site safety program, ensuring all subcontractors comply with safety requirements and helping report and investigate incidents
- Support enforcement of quality standards across all phases of construction
- Assist with daily jobsite oversight to maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Maintain daily logs of site activities and conditions; assist with punch list and closeout processes
- Support the Superintendent and Project Manager in implementing project schedules, sequencing work, and coordinating trades
- Help track subcontractor progress and ensure scope alignment to prevent delays or unnecessary change orders
- Maintain positive working relationships with subcontractors, vendors, and inspectors
- Assist with site logistics, including temporary facilities, material deliveries, and long-lead item tracking
- Ensure accurate and timely documentation of work orders, tickets, and daily field reports
- Participate in coordination meetings and collaborate with the project team throughout the life of the project
Qualifications
- Four-year degree in construction management, engineering, or business preferred
- In lieu of a degree, relevant field experience will be considered
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction, preferably with a general contractor
- Exposure to tenant renovations, service work, occupied spaces, or fast-paced projects is a plus
- Working knowledge of construction means, methods, and sequencing
- Ability to manage tasks, prioritize work, and meet deadlines in a dynamic field environment
- Experience supporting a superintendent or project lead preferred
- Proficiency or willingness to learn industry software such as Microsoft Office, Procore, Bluebeam, and Adobe
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 50 lbs
