Safety Coordinator

Job Description

This role involves coordinating and administering Site Safety Programs to ensure compliance with federal, state, local, and company safety and occupational health standards. The position provides safety resource support for assigned operating units, including training and permitting, with the ultimate goal of ensuring all employees return home healthy and safe each shift. The location of coverage will vary depending on workload and needs, and travel is required.

Responsibilities

* Investigate any incidents or near misses and report findings.

* Attend safety meetings and conduct regular meetings with tradespersons to instruct them on project safety practices.

* Conduct written daily safety inspections and make them available for review to ensure compliance.

* Take direction related to timely abatement and control of hazards.

* Lead or participate in incident investigations and emergency response.

* Conduct site inspections and track corrective actions to closure.

* Perform job safety analysis.

* Maintain jobsite-specific safety documentation.

* Coach and teach safety practices across the region.

* Conduct safety training sessions.

* Carry out any additional assignments as deemed appropriate by Health & Safety Manager.

Essential Skills

* 3-5 years of construction experience with at least 2 years in on-site construction safety responsibilities.

* Specialized training relevant to the scope of work.

* OSHA 500-hour Construction Outreach Training or greater.

* Working knowledge of construction safety regulations and hazard control methods.

* Demonstrated ability to conduct safety training.

* Strong computer skills and proficiency.

* Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.

* Strong tracking and follow-up skills.

* Self-motivated with strong communication skills both verbally and in writing.

* Demonstrated knowledge of risk, liability, and safety management.

Additional

Skills & Qualifications

* Safety certifications such as OSHA 510, OSHA 30.

* Experience with construction safety and health & safety regulations.

* Experience in electrical engineering projects, especially within data centers.

* Collaborative work ethic and willingness to learn.

Work Environment

This is a fully onsite role, requiring up to 80-90% of time spent walking around the site to ensure all safety guidelines are followed. Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $40.00 - $45.00/hr.
