Job Summary
The Safety Coordinator is responsible for promoting and maintaining a safe work environment on large-scale commercial construction projects, specifically within data center new construction environments. This role conducts daily safety inspections, supports compliance with OSHA regulations and client safety standards, leads safety training initiatives, and works closely with field teams and project leadership to proactively identify and mitigate jobsite risks. The Safety Coordinator plays a key role in fostering a strong safety culture while ensuring all personnel adhere to established safety policies and procedures.
Job Responsibilities
Conduct daily site safety walks, inspections, and audits throughout active construction areas.
Ensure all field personnel comply with safety policies, personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements, and site-specific standards.
Lead and support daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and safety awareness initiatives.
Document incidents, near misses, hazards, and corrective actions in accordance with company and client requirements.
Train and onboard new employees regarding site-specific safety procedures and expectations.
Collaborate with project managers, field supervisors, and client safety representatives to address safety concerns and implement corrective measures.
Verify the proper use of ladders, lifts, tools, equipment, and other jobsite resources.
Maintain accurate safety logs, inspection records, reports, and compliance documentation.
Support emergency response planning, drills, and incident response activities.
Conduct safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations as required.
Identify potential hazards and recommend risk mitigation strategies.
Promote a proactive safety culture through consistent engagement with field personnel.
Job Requirements
OSHA 500 or OSHA 510 certification required.
Minimum of 3-5 years of construction safety experience.
Experience working in large-scale commercial construction environments required.
Experience supporting data center, low voltage, or electrical construction projects preferred.
Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, construction safety standards, and risk mitigation practices.
Experience conducting safety audits, inspections, and incident investigations.
Ability to lead toolbox talks, safety meetings, and employee training sessions.
Knowledge of PPE requirements, hazard identification, and safe work practices.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to enforce safety policies professionally and consistently.
First Aid/CPR certification preferred.
BCSP certifications are not required but are preferred.
Other board certifications are not required but may be considered an asset.
Education
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Additional safety-related training or certifications preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in construction safety.
Experience in data center construction, electrical construction, low voltage systems, or related commercial construction environments preferred.

Schedule:
Monday through Friday.Typical start time: 6:00 AM or 7:00 AM based on project requirements.
Overtime required as needed.
Project environment:
Data Center New Construction.Required PPE:
Composite toe boots.Familiarity with safety management software such as Procore Safety, iAuditor, or Site Docs preferred.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required for reporting and documentation.
Experience using incident tracking systems, digital inspection tools, mobile audit applications, and learning management systems (LMS) preferred.
Basic familiarity with Bluebeam or construction plan-reading software is helpful.
