Job Description
The Safety Specialist promotes and maintains a safe, healthy, and incident-free work environment across active jobsites. This role leads the development, coordination, and enforcement of jobsite safety programs and accident prevention strategies, ensuring full compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements. The Safety Specialist also supports a strong client-focused philosophy by building and sustaining safety-centered relationships with new and existing clients.
Responsibilities
+ Develop, implement, and maintain jobsite safety programs that align with company policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Monitor construction and industrial sites daily to identify, assess, and mitigate safety hazards and risks.
+ Conduct regular site walks to ensure trades personnel follow safety protocols and use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
+ Promote a safe and healthy work environment by reinforcing best practices and addressing unsafe behaviors or conditions promptly.
+ Support accident prevention strategies by identifying trends, recommending corrective actions, and following up to verify effectiveness.
+ Ensure compliance with OSHA and other applicable safety regulations through consistent oversight and documentation.
+ Collaborate with project teams to integrate safety considerations into planning, scheduling, and execution of work.
+ Build and maintain strong, safety-focused relationships with clients to support long-term partnerships.
+ Communicate safety expectations clearly to jobsite personnel and encourage a proactive safety culture.
+ Participate in safety-related meetings, briefings, and discussions to align stakeholders on safety goals and performance.
+ Assist in incident response and post-incident review activities, helping to identify root causes and prevent recurrence.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in construction safety, with a strong understanding of jobsite safety practices and requirements.
+ Knowledge of OSHA regulations and standards applicable to construction and industrial environments.
+ OSHA certification required; OSHA 30 certification is a plus.
+ Familiarity with OSHA 500 and OSHA 510 standards and training content.
+ Experience in health and safety (EHS) within construction or industrial settings.
+ Ability to enforce safety protocols and PPE requirements consistently and professionally.
+ Strong observational skills to identify hazards, risks, and non-compliance on active jobsites.
+ Effective communication skills to engage with trades personnel, project teams, and clients on safety matters.
+ Valid driver's license to travel between jobsites as needed.

+ OSHA 30 certification preferred as an enhancement to core safety qualifications.
+ Experience working on construction and industrial projects, including data center and industrial environments.
+ Demonstrated ability to build and maintain strong working relationships focused on safety and reliability.

Work Environment
This role is primarily field-based and involves extensive walking around active construction and industrial sites. The Safety Specialist regularly moves throughout jobsites to observe work, verify that trades personnel follow safety protocols, and ensure proper use of PPE. The position operates in changing conditions typical of construction and industrial environments, including varying terrain, active equipment, and evolving work activities. The role may involve exposure to a wide range of temperatures and weather conditions, as well as typical industrial site risks.

This is a Permanent position based out of Cedar Rapids, IA.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $80000.00/yr.
