The Role

The MEP Assistant Superintendent will plan and execute the construction program in alignment with Suffolk’s procedures, focusing on safety, quality, and schedule. Responsibilities may be divided by area or trade discipline and include supervising Field Engineers and ensuring compliance with contract documents.

Responsibilities
  • Maintain and distribute the construction documents to the entire project team, including plans, specifications, RFIs, bulletins, and field reports.
  • Manage layout and verify the correctness of field dimensions.
  • Verify subcontractor layout to ensure compliance with established lines and grades.
  • Administer Suffolk’s Quality Management Program, specifically First Delivery and Benchmark Inspections, documenting deficiencies and tracking resolution.
  • Continuously monitor job progress on-site and check all work for compliance with contract documents.
  • Document daily construction activity using written reports, photographs, sketches, and other software tools.
  • Create and distribute daily and weekly work plans to the project team, including schedules and logistics plans.
  • Attend and participate in weekly and/or monthly meetings with customers and clients, providing updates and addressing concerns.
  • Compile and maintain all permits, testing, and inspections required for project completion and acceptance.
  • Assist in the administration of the Suffolk Safety Program, including pre‑construction meetings, pre‑task planning, daily monitoring, and enforcement of applicable safety requirements.
  • Supervise and mentor Suffolk’s Field Engineers in their daily work.
  • Communicate clear safety expectations to project teams.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Construction Management preferred.
  • At least 2 years of experience in related construction fields.
  • Self‑motivated with strong organizational, communication, and time‑management skills.
  • Sense of urgency and ability to multitask.

Working Conditions

The role requires frequent standing, walking, and reaching with arms and hands. It involves detailed use of a keyboard, telephone, and written communication. The work environment includes offices with a quiet to moderate noise level as well as job site walking.

Compensation Information
