Job Description:
Summer Intern – Project Engineering Position Summary
The Summer Intern, Project Engineering will support the project team in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities, with exposure to key areas including Safety, Operations, and Quality. This internship is designed to provide hands‑on experience in project documentation, field coordination, scheduling, and construction processes within a fast‑paced jobsite environment.
Key Responsibilities Safety- Review and understand project‑specific and MCIS Safety Manuals
- Participate in daily Pre‑Task Plan (PTP) meetings
- Conduct and support jobsite safety inspections
- Attend weekly General Contractor (GC) safety meetings and all‑hands huddles
- Support adherence to safety standards and reporting protocols
- Learn and apply core project engineering concepts, including RFIs, submittals, and contract documents
- Assist in writing and tracking Requests for Information (RFIs)
- Support the review and processing of submittals and shop drawings
- Maintain RFI and submittal logs and ensure accurate documentation
- Assist with project scheduling, including micro‑scheduling and three‑week look‑ahead planning
- Coordinate material deliveries and support procurement efforts
- Participate in weekly subcontractor meetings and prepare meeting minutes
- Support document control and drawing management
- Utilize Procore for project management functions (RFIs, submittals, documentation)
- Take daily project progress photos and maintain organized records
- Assist with field documentation and reporting requirements
- Schedule meetings and support project communication efforts
- Provide support with owner‑related coordination and interactions
- Participate in jobsite walks with the Superintendent to review work quality
- Review approved shop drawings and assist in verifying installation compliance in the field
- Schedule time with QA/QC leadership to understand quality standards and procedures
- Support implementation of QA/QC policies and documentation practices
- Visit local warehouses to understand operational workflows
- Engage with Logistics and Procurement teams to learn material management processes
- Review active and upcoming subcontracts to understand project scope and contractual obligations
- Attend Wrangler Academy sessions to support onboarding and training initiatives
- Gain exposure to leadership through periodic interaction with project and departmental leaders
- Currently pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field
- Strong interest in construction project management and field operations
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with Procore or similar platforms is a plus
- Ability to work in both field and office environments
- Ability to walk active construction sites and comply with PPE requirements
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. as needed
- Combination of active construction site and office/remote work settings
- Frequent interaction with field staff, subcontractors, and project stakeholders
This internship provides practical, real‑world experience in project engineering, with a focus on developing foundational knowledge in construction safety, operations, and quality management while supporting the successful delivery of projects.
