Stamats is seeking a
senior editor
and
writer with experience
in higher ed and healthcare digital content creation, strategy, and implementation. This role is ideal for someone who thrives on a deadline and is comfortable in an environment where priorities shift daily, technology advances rapidly, and client service is paramount.
The right candidate will be motivated to advance themselves and the team’s approaches to content strategy, how AI will impact content, new content foundations such as headless CMS, and continued innovation to improve content creation processes.
We are currently accepting applications from U.S.
-based candidates who are legally authorized to work in the United States.
- Encourage the content team to grow in their use of technology, digital best practices, and leading-edge content approaches (e.g., agentic style guide companions, search intent research, etc.).
- Expand existing, long-term content engagements to deliver increased value (upsells) for the client and for Stamats.
- Build on Stamats' exceptional content delivery reputation.
- Edit the work of fellow content writers across various higher ed and healthcare clients, ensuring brand-specific tone, voice, structure, and strategy are followed.
- Create and edit collateral for content marketing projects (e.g., social media, blogs, internal content marketing, email content, and press releases).
- Interview subject matter experts, such as faculty members and clinical specialists, with professionalism and pointed, appropriate questions.
- Mentor the team of content writers to grow in their skills and confidence.
- Work directly with clients to manage content client account relationships, editorial plans, and timely fulfillment of scopes of work.
- Follow and maintain digital best practices, such as user experience, SEO, conversion strategy, data storytelling, and searchable/actionable content.
- Work in an agile environment, managing and creating content for multiple projects in the same timeframe.
- Manage complex, client-facing tasks that move quickly.
- Confidence and demonstrated skill in using modernized tools (Copilot, Gemini, Moz, etc.) to increase efficiency and volume in the content team.
- Ability to quickly learn and implement best practices in website user journeys, content strategy, content marketing and web writing, and client experience.
- Bachelor's degree or higher in English, journalism, or a related field.
- Experience working in higher education or healthcare content.
- Passing an internal writing and editing assessment (we'll pay you for your time to complete these exercises).
- 3-5 verifiable samples that illustrate your understanding of writing, editing/optimization, content strategy, and digital content best practices.
- 3-5 years of experience creating digital content in an agency environment.
- Ability to tell a visual story with Google Analytics or other digital data.
- Ability to create and follow project workflows in Basecamp and other systems as needed.
- Ability to recognize and respond to upselling opportunities through established Stamats communications channels.
- Familiarity with AI tools and ability to integrate them into daily workflows.
- Take initiative and look for ways to help.
- Thrive in a collaborative setting but can work independently.
- Detail-oriented and focused on accuracy.
