As a Box Office Associate, under the supervision of the Director of Theatre Operations, you will manage ticket sales, handle customer inquiries, and ensure a smooth experience for patrons attending performances at Theatre Cedar Rapids. This key customer-facing role is vital to driving audience engagement, attendance, and satisfaction. The position requires flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

By effectively managing customer interactions and ticketing processes, the Box Office Associate helps maintain the theatre’s reputation for professionalism and accessibility, reinforcing Theatre Cedar Rapids’ role as a cultural hub in the region.

GENERAL JOB DUTIES

  • All employees are responsible for a basic knowledge of the culture book, along with the mission and vision of the organization, and must conduct themselves with behavior that supports these values.
  • All employees are expected to optimize their working hours and achieve their full potential by arriving on time for scheduled shifts and collaborating effectively as a team.
  • All employees are expected to elevate issues as necessary.
  • All employees must conduct themselves in a professional manner in accordance with the TCR's Conduct Policy, as found in the culture book.
  • All employees will specifically be trained on their job duties, however; other mandatory trainings may be deemed appropriate by management for one or all members of the team.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES (include but are not limited to the following)

  • Phone and front desk receptionist
  • Ticketing associate for walk-in, phone, and email box office inquiries
  • Administrative support and data entry
  • Must be able to perform door sales at events on evenings and weekends
  • Work directly in ticketing system and theatre database
  • Parking Attendant shifts on evenings and weekends

SKILLS AND ABILITIES

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential customer information
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills, with a focus on customer service
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, rapidly changing, and customer-focused environment
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy in ticketing and financial transactions
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills
  • Goal-oriented with a focus on driving ticket sales and customer satisfaction
  • Analytical skills to identify and resolve customer issues in a timely manner
  • Exhibit sound and accurate judgment when handling customer inquiries and complaints
  • Ability to work effectively across departmental teams
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new ticketing systems and technologies
  • Maintain professional technical knowledge of ticketing software and customer service practices
  • Advanced level computer literacy, including proficiency with point of sale (POS) systems, email, and office software

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

  • A minimum of 2+ years' of relatable experience
