Dental Assistant

Cedar Rapids, IA 52402 | Full Time

Glass Road Family Dentistry is looking for a driven, experienced Dental Assistant to join our team. Someone who is great with patients, takes initiative, and brings strong communication skills and a self-managing work ethic to everything they do will fit in great here. If you're bilingual in Spanish, that is a meaningful asset, a bilingual assistant helps us extend warmth to every patient.

Clinical Responsibilities
  • Assist across our complete scope of services: preventive dentistry, restorative dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, family dentistry, dental implant restorations, dental prosthetics, oral surgery, root canal treatment, periodontal disease treatment, clear aligner treatment, mouth guards, fillings, and emergency dentistry
  • Take and process digital X-rays and intraoral images in compliance with Iowa state regulations
  • Sterilize and maintain instruments and equipment following strict infection control protocols
  • Prepare tray setups and maintain adequate supply levels in each operatory, replenishing as needed
  • Prepare materials for impressions and restorations
  • Ensure patient comfort and provide calm, compassionate support before, during, and after every procedure
  • Obtain dental histories and ensure health histories are updated for all returning patients
  • Provide post-treatment and post-operative instructions and patient education on oral hygiene and home care
  • Record patient charting and all doctor notes as directed by the doctor
  • Track dental supply inventory and process orders as needed
  • Prepare, enter, and track lab cases from submission through delivery
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date patient records in full compliance with HIPAA
Front Desk & Administrative Support (as needed)
  • Greet patients in person and via phone; check patients in for their appointments
  • Assist with scheduling, treatment coordination, and filling schedule vacancies
  • Process co-pays and assist patients with general practice or insurance questions
  • Support billing and additional office tasks as directed
What Makes You a Great Fit
  • Iowa Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) credential preferred
  • Completion of an approved Iowa radiation safety course and radiography training required per state regulations
  • Current CPR certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of dental assisting experience preferred
  • Bilingual in Spanish strongly encouraged to apply
  • Calm, patient-centered presence that makes every patient feel genuinely welcomed and at ease
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with patients of all ages and backgrounds
  • Exceptional attention to detail in clinical work, documentation, and operatory preparation
  • Self-managing work ethic
