Position
Teacher Associate, Three hours per day, $17.10/hr.
Position won’t start until the school year. Start date to be determined.
Principal Duties- Work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff.
- Assist with supervision of students (classroom, cafeteria, halls, etc.).
- Implement behavior management strategies.
- May include riding the bus with students.
- May include working one-to-one with a student to complete assigned tasks.
- Student supervision and ensuring student safety are required.
- Assist students with necessary health assistance under the guidance of the nurses.
- Assist in the preparation of materials used in the educational process.
- Assist students at mealtime.
- Assist students in personal hygiene areas.
- Help get students to and from bus or car.
- Other duties as may be assigned. Assignments may vary based on building and district needs.
- Two‑year post‑secondary education, a para educator certificate, or a qualifying score on the NCRC assessment test.
- Willingness to assume responsibility.
- Ability to work well with others and independently.
- Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship.
- Capability of representing the school in a professional manner, including confidentiality, communication, and dress.
- Regular attendance.

Physical DemandsThe employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers, talk and hear. The employee must squat, stoop or kneel, reach above the head and forward 0 to 24 inches and on occasion up to 36 inches. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0 to 12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and the ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.
WorkingEnvironment
The noise level is usually quiet. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom, indoors and outdoors, standing, moving while supervising indoor and outdoor activities.
