Principal Duties

• Supervise students.
• Work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff.
• Consistently monitor students’ learning and behaviors.
• Be available for any student need including health, toileting, behavior, and self‑help skills.
• Attend district workshops and trainings to further learning about Early Childhood Education.
• Other duties as assigned.

Preparation, Experience, Skills

• Must have at least 12 credit hours in early childhood education, a current CDA credential, two years of post‑secondary education or Para educator certificate.
• Required to obtain pediatric first aid and CPR.
• Willingness to assume responsibility.
• Ability to work well with others.
• Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
• Ability to work independently.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Enjoy working with preschool‑age children.
• Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them.

Physical Demands

Employee frequently required to stand; walk; use hands and fingers to handle and feel objects, tools or controls; talk and hear. Frequently squat, stoop or kneel, reach above head and forward 0–24 inches, occasionally up to 36 inches. Use hand strength to grasp items. Frequently bend or twist at the neck and trunk more than average while performing duties. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0–12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet (e.g., curriculum materials, desks, chairs, and boxes).

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.

Working Environment

Noise level usually quiet. Employee works in different areas of classroom including desks, floor, standing, on or near the floor, supervising indoor and outdoor activities. Usually indoor, but may work outdoors supervising students.
