GENERAL

JOB SUMMARY:

Kirkwood Community College's Industrial Technologies Department is seeking a part-time instructor for AUT-888 Tech Lab I (4 credit hours). A successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in automotive service and repair, including the use of common diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, vehicle maintenance procedures, and safe shop practices. Candidates should be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to students in a hands-on learning environment.

AUT-888 Section B: T/TH 8:00-11:00 am AND 1:00-4:00 pm, 8/24/26-10/16/26

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.

* 6000 hours of employment in automotive service and repair OR

* An associate's degree in automotive technology or related field and 3000 hours of employment in automotive service and repair OR

* A bachelor's degree in automotive technology or related field AND

* Have the following certifications: ASE G1, ASE A6

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, OR REGISTRATIONS:

* Previous experience in face-to-face instruction at a community college.

* Demonstrated success working with ESL students and supporting diverse learning needs.

* Prior use of a learning management system.
