About The Community

Leaf Rapids Education Centre is a modern well‑equipped Nursery to Grade 12 school located 230 km from Thompson. Leaf Rapids features an abundance of hiking trails and fishing spots. The community services are in a central building fostering a great community spirit. The Town Centre houses the school, medical centre, theatre, gymnasium and shopping.

What You Bring
  • Bachelor of Education Degree and Valid Manitoba Teaching Certificate (or eligibility for)
  • Fluency in the Cree language both written and oral
  • Knowledge of Indigenous culture, history, and the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action
  • Previous teaching experience
  • Familiarity with the Kindergarten to Grade 12 Aboriginal Languages and Culture:
    Manitoba Curriculum Framework of Outcomes
  • Strong classroom management skills
  • Experience working in a northern community (considered an asset)
