Position Funding Source: KLA (Innovation Funds), extra days (Teacher Leadership)
Funding expires: Sept 30, 2027
Supervised by: Building Administrator
Position SummaryThis position assists and supports the District and Building Leadership Teams with the development and implementation of Magnet school programming. It requires collaboration with District and school teams as well as community partners. The Magnet Coordinator will work with the Teacher Leadership Team, District Administration, and teaching staff to support teachers and ensure delivery of the District Vision of Every Learner:
Future Ready. The coordinator may be assigned to one or more Magnet schools.

CompensationCompensation aligns with the Teacher Master Contract. Up to five additional days may be determined by the district: two days at $25 an hour ($200 a day) for individuals receiving PL and three days at $340 a day for individuals preparing to administer PL. The latter is prorated for part‑time roles.
Teacher Leadership Essential Disposition, Skills, and Requirements- Reflective, growth‑oriented, seeks and acts upon feedback, and willingness to be coached.
- Knowledge of the Understanding by Design (UbD) framework.
- Deep understanding of equity principles and culturally responsible pedagogy to identify and address inequitable practices and engage teachers in using an equity lens.
- Ability to train and coach New Art and Science of Teaching.
- Willingness to become knowledgeable in the High Reliability Schools framework.
- Experience with research‑based strategies within digital literacy.
- Knowledge of curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
- Ability to design, present, and facilitate adult learning experiences (preferred).
- Experience with conducting professional learning activities.
- Knowledge of the Iowa Core Standards and Standards‑Based Grading.
- Mentoring and coaching skills.
- Knowledge of Professional Learning Community process and protocol.
- Standard Teaching License with five years of teaching experience, at least three of which are in the Cedar Rapids Community School District (preferred).
- Annual evaluation of all Teacher Leader positions, providing opportunities for reflection and feedback.
- Use of CRCSD evaluation procedure, including peer review.
- Surveys of peers regarding essential job elements.
- Personal reflection on professional growth relative to job elements.
- Meeting or exceeding all performance targets.
- Maintenance of required documentation.
- Ensure implementation of the MSAP grant plan with fidelity, on time, and within budget.
- Complete inquiry cycles with designated teachers, engaging in cyclical, instructional‑focused processes that support the coachee’s goals and promote equitable outcomes.
- Advance standards‑aligned, theme‑infused instruction and rigorous content for every student through the Understanding by Design framework.
- Collaborate with and facilitate PLCs addressing standards and theme‑infused teaching and learning.
- Model, observe, and coach predominant instructional practices defined by NASOT, the district, and the building.
- Provide theme‑aligned professional development related to teacher instructional growth goals.
- Build teacher capacity for equitable and inclusive instruction based on equity principles and culturally responsive pedagogy.
- Cultivate relational trust, caring, mutual respect, and honesty with teachers in a non‑evaluative, confidential manner.
- Support the building’s HRS team goals and SIP.
- Support marketing, recruitment, and family/community relations to ensure equitable access to Magnet schools.
- Collaborate with community partners to advance Magnet theme through authentic learning experiences both in school and in the community.
- Other duties as assigned.
Frequent standing, walking, use of hands, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching up to 36 inches, twisting neck & trunk, lifting or moving up to 50 pounds, driving, and supervising. Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus during computer and document work.
Work EnvironmentTypically quiet indoor environment with occasional outdoor work in supervision of students. Professional hours may extend beyond 8 a.m.–4 p.m. workday. Reasonable accommodations are available for disabilities.
