Job Title
Kirkwood Community College's Industrial Technologies Department is seeking a part-time instructor for AUT-888 Tech Lab I (4 credit hours).
Job Goal:
To advance the college's mission, vision, principles, values and strategic initiatives through continuous improvement decisions.
Pay is $1,304 per credit hour.
General
Job Summary:
A successful candidate will have at least three years of experience in automotive service and repair, including the use of common diagnostic equipment, hand and power tools, vehicle maintenance procedures, and safe shop practices. Candidates should be self-motivated, goal-oriented, and able to clearly communicate complex technical concepts to students in a hands-on learning environment.

Adjunct faculty positions are temporary, part-time positions scheduled intermittently based on institutional need. Adjuncts are not guaranteed work in any semester and are notified of course assignments prior to each term as courses become available.

Duties/Responsibilities:
- Provide face-to-face instruction in discipline
- Teach using the department's established curriculum, syllabus, and assessments while collaborating with faculty to maintain consistency across course sections.
- Communicate with department staff, students, and faculty on a regular basis.
- Evaluate student performance and provide timely feedback on a regular basis.
- Utilize the Kirkwood Learning Management System to post course syllabi and relevant documents and provide access to the student grade book.
- Regularly engage in professional development activities and actively seek information about developing trends and ideas.
- Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Performance Expectations:
- Effectively instruct and communicate material for the course.
- Abide by and enforce safety rules when in a lab setting.

Physical Activities With/Without Reasonable Accommodation:
Position involves working in an office setting. Occasional (10-33%) standing, pushing, pulling and grasping. Frequent (34-66%) reaching and viewing a computer and other types of close visual work. Constant (67-100%) sitting, walking, repetitive motion, talking and hearing.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 6000 hours of employment in automotive service and repair OR
- An associate's degree in automotive technology or related field and 3000 hours of employment in automotive service and repair OR
- A bachelor's degree in automotive technology or related field AND
- Have the following certifications: ASE G1, ASE A6
Preferred Qualifications, Licenses, Certifications, or Registrations:
- Previous experience in face-to-face instruction at a community college.
- Demonstrated success working with ESL students and supporting diverse learning needs.
- Prior use of a learning management system.
