Learning Assistant
To advance the college's mission, vision, principles, values and strategic initiatives by providing courteous and efficient academic support services to students, faculty, staff, and community members.
The Learning Assistant (LA) supports learners' academic success and fosters a positive learning environment. The LA will work closely with learners to enhance instruction and provide individualized assistance. As a walk-in Learning Assistant, you will have scheduled times to be available for support in the Learning Commons or Success Center locations. The availability will be between 8 am to 5 pm from Monday to Friday.

Customer Service
Assist with the front desk in the Learning Commons
Perform various office clerical duties including filing, typing, scanning, maintaining copiers and other equipment, ordering supplies, sorting/distributing mail, etc.
Provide subject matter support to learners as well as general study skills
Serve as a mentor and role model for learners
Promote a positive and inclusive learning environment
Refer learners to appropriate resources and support services as needed
Maintain accurate records of student attendance and participation.
Lead small group study sessions and tutoring sessions.
Assist learners struggling with course concepts.
Answer student questions and clarify course content.
Assist with program activities and events.
Schedule room resources as needed.
Perform other related work duties as assigned.
Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications
Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills
Regular and consistent attendance at work
Exhibit a high degree of integrity and confidentiality
Attention to detail and strong time management and organizational skills
Willing to learn and adapt to new policies, programs, and technological innovations

The position involves sitting often in an office setting (frequently 34-66%). Constant (67-100%) talking and listening to people in person, viewing a computer screen, and other types of close visual work. Occasional (10-33%) stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, pushing, pulling, and lifting. Frequent (34-66%) walking, grasping and repetitive motion.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Experience in nursing or nursing education.
Earned a B+ or better in the course, providing study support for
Minimum 3.0 GPA or a faculty member's recommendation
Experience as a tutor, academic coach, or learning assistant
