Job Description

PRINCIPAL DUTIES:
Supervise students, work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff, and perform other duties as assigned.

CLASSIFICATION:
Teacher Associates, 7 hours per day, $16.25/hr.

EMPLOYMENT:

PREPARATION, EXPERIENCE,

SKILLS:

Two‑year post‑secondary education or Para‑educator certificate or qualifying score on the NCRC assessment test; willingness to assume responsibility; ability to work well with others and independently; flexibility in working with classroom teachers; good oral and written communication skills; enjoy working with young people; ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining a positive relationship with them; regular attendance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle objects, squat, stoop, kneel, reach above the head and forward 0–24 inches and occasionally up to 36 inches, lift and/or move up to 50 pounds 0–12 feet and occasionally up to 20 feet, push/pull items. Specific vision abilities include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus while supervising students and working with computers, written materials, reports, assessment data, etc.

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
The noise level is usually quiet. The position requires commitment to professional working hours that may extend beyond a typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom, standing, moving while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, and may work outdoors when supervising students outside the classroom.
