Clinical Coordinator

The instructor is responsible for fostering student learning through effectively teaching coursework in the area of nursing and general health courses for the Nursing department. This position will involve days, evenings and/or weekends, with a varying schedule between classroom, simulation, lab, and clinic focused teaching. The faculty must develop, implement and evaluate instruction, and report and record student achievement in assigned courses in accordance with department, division and college policies and procedures.
Teaching responsibilities include lecture, laboratory, simulation, and clinical practice settings. Responsibilities will also include mentoring and remediation of current students and providing assistance in development and implementation of departmental initiatives.
The Clinical Coordinator will be given 26 hours credit load per academic year (10 credits fall, 10 credits spring, 6 credits summer). The Clinical Coordinator will schedule contracted days to meet all requirements which include first and second half of summer semester and semester breaks. Teaching schedule will be assigned by the dean. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the instructor will be expected to contribute professional expertise through non-teaching activities to the department, program, and college.
The instructor will be responsible for meeting the goals and objectives of an individual Professional Preparation Plan as outlined by the College's Quality Faculty Plan.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Coordinate and schedule student, adjunct, and full-time faculty clinical, lab, and simulation experiences.
- Coordinate and schedule student observation experiences.
- Identify current and emerging trends and opportunities in the Nursing discipline to ensure the development and retention of adjunct faculty to meet Nursing program laboratory, clinical, and simulation requirements.
- Promote Nursing adjunct faculty development; recommend, coordinate, and lead activities to meet adjunct faculty development and program goals related to clinical and lab.
- Plan, coordinate, and promote Nursing adjunct programming and initiatives with the department faculty in collaboration with the Associate Dean.
- Develop and maintain clinical agency relationships.
- Assist in faculty workload decisions to insure appropriate staffing, equity, and efficient resource utilization.
- Coordinate with Clinical Leads to develop, implement, evaluate, and revise clinical practicum process improvements through leadership of the Clinical Lead Committee.
- Submit student information to clinical sites.
- Verify student compliance to meet college and facility requirements.
- Continually update Talon-Current students with up-to-date information regarding clinical site requirements
- Facilitate and run adjunct retreat for fall and spring semester.
- Provide professional development opportunities to adjunct faculty for the lab and clinical setting.

PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS:
- Scheduling Related:
- Determine the number of sites needed and schedule dates for clinical, preceptorship, and community experiences.
- Collaborate with the Simulation Center, Simulation Coordinator, Program Director, and Clinical Lead to ensure the scheduling of lab, clinic, observations, simulations, and class times do not overlap.
- Primary responsibility for the scheduling of faculty for all clinical, sim, and lab experiences.
- Creation of the lab, clinical, sim schedule
- Coordination with the Associate dean for level scheduling
- Coordinate and schedule EPIC training at Mercy Medical Center.
- Community-Partner Related:
- Communicate and coordinate with clinical sites.
- Ensure that all clinical sites have an up-to-date clinical contract (affiliate agreement).
- Attend the Corridor Coordinating Council meetings and other facility meetings.
- Student Related:
- Communicate via Talon, e-mail, and/or phone with students/adjunct faculty.
- Collaborate with staff and Clinical Leads to ensure student compliance.
- Collaborate with staff and clinical leads to ensure student facility compliance.
- Assign students' clinical sites and make-up dates/time.
- Manage and resolve student clinical/lab conflicts.
