5th Grade - West Willow

Cedar Rapids Community School District – West Willow Elementary – 5th Grade

Provides instruction in the curricular areas to students in an elementary classroom.

• Elementary Classroom K‑6 (required)
• Reading K‑8 (preferred)

• Develops and implements programming associated with all content areas for elementary aged students.
• Supports and implements the district curriculum, standards and benchmarks.
• Assists school staff with strategies to support and meet students' needs and achievement of academic goals.
• Provides active communication and positive relationships with parents and community members.
• Assists in planning and delivery of social/emotional/behavioral school‑wide programming.
• Assists and collaborates with the principal, school counselor, staff, parents and students on matters pertaining to teaching and learning.
• Maintains appropriate records and protects the confidentiality of data.
• Meets the 8 Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria on a consistent basis.
• Reports to work as scheduled on a regular and reliable basis.
• Other duties as assigned.

• Education:
  
  Bachelor’s degree in Education required.
• Experience:
  
  Classroom teaching upper elementary preferred.

• Language:
  Ability to read, analyze, interpret, and implement ideas from technical documents, assessment data, professional journals and regulations; to write reports and communications; to present orally and respond to questions.
• Mathematical:
  Ability to perform basic functions and assist students with these concepts.
• Reasoning:
  Ability to solve problems effectively and interpret various instructions.
• Disposition:
  Believes children can attain high learning; responsible; possesses knowledge; collaborative; adheres to PLC model; values continuous improvement; interpersonally skilled; track record of success; works with integrity.

Iowa Teaching Certification with an endorsement in content area required.

Employee frequently required to stand, walk, use hands; may squat, stoop, kneel, reach; lift up to 50 pounds; occasional tasks up to 20 feet; vision, color, focus required. Reasonable accommodations may be made.

Quiet environment in classroom; may work outdoors; requires professional hours beyond 8‑a.m. to 4‑p.m.; physical requirements as above. Legal compliance with ADA. Additional duties may be assigned.
