Instructional Positions for Spring 2027
The Department of Psychology at Coe College invites applicants for one or more instructional positions for Spring 2027. We seek qualified instructors to teach Abnormal Psychology and Counseling Psychology. These positions are an excellent fit for graduate students and early-career individuals who are drawn to teaching-focused liberal arts environments.
Per-Course Instructor of Abnormal Psychology (in-person)The successful candidate will teach one section of Abnormal Psychology on campus in Spring 2027. This is one of our most consistently in-demand courses and serves as the prerequisite for our upper-division Counseling Psychology course. We have not yet set the spring schedule, and we are happy to offer flexibility around days and times that work best for the instructor we hire.

Description:
PSY 235 Abnormal Psychology:
Examines the diagnosis, etiology, explanation, and treatment of major mental disorders. Focus is on understanding the interplay of biological and psychological forces in the development and treatment of disorders, with emphasis on research findings.
The successful candidate will teach one section of Counseling Psychology on campus in Spring 2027. This course is one of our most popular upper-division electives for the psychology major. We have not yet set the spring schedule, and we are happy to offer flexibility around days and times that work best for the instructor we hire.

Description:
Introduces students to the field of counseling. Topics include ethical principles of the counseling profession, legal issues and licensing, counseling in a diverse and multicultural society, and effectiveness of various forms of therapy. Major theoretical approaches including psychoanalytic, humanistic, existential, cognitive-behavioral, couples and family systems are covered.
Qualifications:
ABD or terminal degree in Psychology or a closely related field preferred. Candidates with a completed master's degree and relevant teaching experience or clinical experience are also encouraged to apply.
