Special Education Para - Trailside Elementary

Your Role

Here’s what you will be doing:

• Work with students individually or in group settings under the direction of professional staff.
• Assist with supervision of students in classrooms, cafeteria, halls, and other areas.
• Implement behavior management strategies.
• Provide one-to-one support to students to complete assigned tasks.
• Ensure student safety at all times.
• Assist students with health needs under nurse guidance.
• Help prepare educational materials.
• Assist students during mealtime and with personal hygiene.
• Help students get to and from bus or car.
• May include riding the bus with students.
• Perform other duties as assigned based on building and district needs.

The company is looking for:

• Two years post-secondary education, Para educator certificate, or qualifying score on NCRC assessment test.
• Willingness to assume responsibility.
• Ability to work well with others and independently.
• Flexibility in working with classroom teachers.
• Good oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to effectively supervise students while maintaining positive relationships.
• Professional representation of the school, including confidentiality and appropriate dress.
• Regular attendance.

• Hourly wage of $17.26.
• Seven-hour workday.

• Frequent standing, walking, squatting, stooping, kneeling, reaching, bending, and twisting.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds frequently and push/pull items like tables and carts.
• Close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus required.
• Work environment is usually quiet, with indoor and outdoor supervision duties.
• Work hours may extend beyond typical 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. schedule.
