Lead Inspector

Overview

Are you an experienced inspection professional ready to lead teams and uphold the highest standards of safety, quality, and compliance? We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Inspector to support major utility and pipeline projects across Central Iowa, with a focus on the Cedar Rapids area
. This field-based leadership role offers the opportunity to oversee inspection activities, guide inspectors, and ensure work meets the rigorous standards required for high-pressure distribution, transmission, and steel pipeline projects.

• Lead and coordinate daily inspection activities across multiple job sites within the Central Iowa region.
• Conduct and oversee inspections for high-pressure distribution
  , transmission
  , and steel pipeline projects.
• Review technical documents including drawings, engineering specifications, welding procedures, and project standards.
• Provide leadership, mentorship, and support to inspection staff, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to procedures.
• Work closely with contractors, engineers, and project leadership to resolve field issues in real time.
• Monitor work for compliance with safety regulations, construction codes, and company/industry standards.
• Document inspection findings, non-conformances, corrective actions, and site conditions clearly and accurately.
• Ensure timely communication and reporting to project stakeholders and management.
• Champion a strong safety culture and enforce safety protocols across all activities.

• High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or relevant certifications a plus.
• Demonstrated leadership, supervisory, or management experience in inspection or utility construction.
• Extensive field experience in high-pressure distribution
  , transmission
  , or steel pipeline work.
• Strong understanding of utility construction, welding inspection, pipeline systems, and QA/QC practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, maps, and technical documentation.
• Excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to work independently while effectively leading and coordinating field teams.
• Comfortable working outdoors in various weather conditions and traveling throughout the Cedar Rapids and Central Iowa area.
