Role SummaryAre you ready to shape the future of aerospace with cutting-edge technology? Join our Rotary Wing Platform Systems Team within the Military Avionics group at Collins Aerospace. Here, you will play a crucial role in developing and testing avionics for the Special Operations Army (SOA) Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) program. This dynamic position offers the flexibility to push the boundaries of technology, enhancing the capabilities for the MH-60M and MH-47G aircraft.
This role requires a highly motivated person as a Principal Platform Systems Engineer for the SOA CAAS program. This person needs to be a self-starter with the ability to work independently as well as a member of the broader team.
The selected candidate must be onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA for test events and other lab activities.
What You Will Do- Perform Platform Systems Engineering (PSE) activities for the SOA CAAS program, including requirements/test procedure development, design updates, execution of test procedures, etc. Tools used are DOORS, JIRA, PREP, Microsoft, SVN and others.
- Support the completion of the Increment plan for the Platform Systems team during the Rotary Wing department wide planning events.
- Navigate through bids & pursuits, adhering to Collins Processes.
- Mentor younger engineers through Systems Engineering practices.
- Design system solutions, ensuring the integration of Collins Aerospace products into complex upgrade programs for the SOA CAAS program.
- Approximately 10% travel as needed.
- Deepen understanding of aircraft systems engineering, gaining insights into advanced integration and development processes.
- Enhance leadership skills, directing critical implementations and influencing major project outcomes.
- Expand professional network, working alongside avionics experts and customers.
- Build customer relationships with the SOA customer.
- Gain experience with DOORS, PREP, JIRA and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 8 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 5 years of experience.
- Associated documentation experience.
- Experience in Avionics systems (military or civil aircraft).
- Collins Aerospace’s Common Avionics Architecture System (CAAS) experience.
- Cost Account Manager (CAM) experience.
- Working knowledge / understanding of data busses and protocols (Ethernet, MIL-STD-1553B, and ARINC-429)
- Strong organizational skills.
- Communicate with a wide variety of technical and management personnel as well customers.
