RoleSummary
Collins Aerospace is currently seeking qualified candidates for Senior Software Engineer roles in our Military Avionics Flight Management department located in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Teams are comprised of cross-functional engineers working in an AGILE environment (approximately 6-10 people) focused on the design and development of flight management software applications. Team culture is collaborative and engaged; we value our customers, our products, and our people.
This position may require the commitment of professional working hours that may extend beyond a typical 7:30am to 4:30pm workday, or beyond a 40-hour work week.
Product SummaryCAAS/Flight 2 Flight Management Solutions supports Military Avionics as part of the Collins Integrated Avionics System. Capabilities include FMS (Flight Management Systems) and Tactical Communication.
- Work within a team of Systems and Software engineers to design, develop, and test software features for flight management systems that are integrated into military helicopters and planes
- Master your knowledge of Software Engineering and Flight Management Systems
- Integrate soft skills (leadership, communication, coordination, proactiveness) into a dynamic environment that provides quality and timely products to internal and external customers
- Travel (domestic and international < 10%) as needed
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
- 4+ years of experience with C, C++, DOORS, ADA, and/or Python
- 4+ years of experience in a Software role
- Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance (Classified as a US Person) if needed after day 1
- Industry Experience of Software Lifecycle Development (Design, Requirements, Integration, Test)
- Pilot/Avionics Experience (i.e. Private Pilot, Aircraft Maintenance, DO-178 Certification)
